Edward Welch is the head of wealth management and a managing director based in Montgomery, AL.

Eddie joined CAPTRUST in 2020 from Welch Hornsby—an independent, fee-only investment advisory firm he co-founded in 1988. He served as the firm’s chairman, chief executive officer. For over 30 years Eddie was instrumental in creating and fostering a firm that was committed to building and preserving the wealth of individuals, families, and institutions.

As a managing director, Eddie is responsible for leading CAPTRUST’s Wealth Management Group, which is comprised of the client service team, the centralized wealth client solutions team, and portfolio accounting team.

Altogether, Eddie oversees the work of more than 270 CAPTRUST employees and is responsible for envisioning the value proposition of wealth clients at CAPTRUST.

Eddie earned his Bachelor of Science degree in finance from the University of Alabama. When not in the office, you can find Eddie spending time with his wife, two children and grandchildren. Eddie enjoys time in the mountains and at the beach. He is active in the community serving on numerous nonprofit boards.
