CAPTRUST Continues Growth in Northeast

CAPTRUST announced that Peggy Whitmore has joined CAPTRUST as vice president and financial advisor from 401k Advisors, Inc. Whitmore brings over 20 years of hands-on experience in the design, implementation, and management of investment strategies for qualified and nonqualified corporate retirement plans.

CAPTRUST Financial Advisors, one of the nation’s leading independent investment advisory firms, today announced that Peggy Whitmore has joined CAPTRUST as vice president and financial advisor from 401k Advisors, Inc. Whitmore brings over 20 years of hands-on experience in the design, implementation, and management of investment strategies for qualified and nonqualified corporate retirement plans.

Whitmore has an extensive retirement industry background. She began her career at Oppenheimer Management Corporation and spent several years at Chase Manhattan Bank where she developed and implemented the bank’s first multi-managed 401(k) plan offered to existing banking relationships. It was also during her tenure at Chase Manhattan Bank that she developed the first proprietary nonqualified deferred compensation plan, offered to the bank’s institutional clients. She has spent the past eight years as a managing director at 401k Advisors, working directly with institutional plan sponsors.

Also new to the firm, joining Whitmore as a financial advisor relationship manager, is Kathleen Gartland. Gartland has worked alongside Whitmore for the last five years assisting in the area of client management.“Our move to CAPTRUST means that my clients will have access to the deepest talent pool in the industry and top-notch resources for retirement plan design, investment management, and employee education, just to name a few. Providing my clients with these highly valuable tools will help ensure their retirement readiness,” says Whitmore.

Since 1989, CAPTRUST has experienced remarkable growth; from its beginnings with two advisors bringing on their first client, to today with over 280 associates, $114 billion in assets under advisement, over one thousand institutional clients, and more than two million retirement plan participants across all 50 states.“We continue to look for the right opportunities to grow by adding like-minded and talented advisors like Whitmore to our roster,” says J. Fielding Miller, CAPTRUST co-founder and CEO.
