Phil joined CAPTRUST in 2020 from Welch Hornsby—an independent, fee-only investment advisory firm, in Birmingham, AL, where he served as a client advisor for more than 20 years.
In his role as a principal and financial advisor, Phil works closely with clients throughout the southeast with a focus on consulting and advising employers in providing world class retirement plans for their employees. Areas of plan advice include serving clients with 401(k), 403(b), non-qualified, and pension plans. The Birmingham team also supports building and preserving the wealth of high-net-worth individuals and families, endowments, foundations, and other institutional entities.
Phil has the Accredited Investment Fiduciary® (AIF®) designation and he earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Samford University. His areas of expertise include investment management, plan design consulting, participant education strategy, and retirement plan business development.
Phil is married to the former Lisa Hembree, and they have two sons. In his spare time, Phil serves as an elder of Briarwood Presbyterian Church in Birmingham, Alabama.
